What a great day at Fairwinds Golf and Country Club. We booked a 3:15 tee time and had the entire course to ourselves, no one ahead of us and no one pushing us. The fairways were in supreme condition, just lush enough to be able to lift the ball gently off the turf, and yet firm enough to get some great roll on our long shots. The greens had been punched, and were therefore a bit slower than what we’ve been used to, however, we know that this is the season for the courses to do their yearly maintenance.

The entire experience of golfing at Fairwinds is one to remember and to rejoice in. The towering Douglas Fir trees that line the fairways, and the gorgeous homes that offer peek-a-boo views into their pristine interiors give you the sense that you are a part of this luxurious community.

Driving into Fairwinds is an enjoyable experience in itself, as travelling along the country roads offers great ocean views of the Salish Sea and the coastal Rocky mountains. Every once in a while, we are lucky enough to spot a cruise ship making their way up the Georgia Strait and Inside Passage to Alaska during the peak traveling season. Just thinking of all of the lucky passengers on board brings a smile to my face as I recall the natural beauty of the passing rain forest, combined with exquisite views of the many glaciers along the Alaska coastline. As they pass through the calm waters and picturesque community of Nanoose Bay, they will no doubt realize that  there are great things ahead for them.

For now, our life revolves around our dream of building a high-end bed and breakfast in this gorgeous community in Nanoose Bay. We are extremely fortunate to be able to realize this dream, and to live so close to the ocean with all of it’s wild and beautiful influences.
